Sidney OH Arborist

When you hire a certified arborist for your tree and lawn care, you can be assured that you are working with the best. Becoming a certified arborist requires ongoing education and meeting of standards that ensure you receive the highest quality services while maintaining safety protocols.

What is a Certified Arborist?

A certified arborist is an individual who has been certified through the International Society of Arboriculture, or ISA, as a knowledgeable and experienced arborist who is trained in the proper planting, care, and maintenance of all types of trees. To become certified, one must pass a comprehensive examination created by some of the most experienced arborists in the industry. To maintain their certification, they must follow a set of regulations for their services and uphold a code of ethics in their business dealings. ISA Certified Arborists also receive continuing education on the latest service and safety techniques.

The ISA is a third-party regulator that helps administer and uphold the requirements of becoming a certified arborist. In addition to the requirements mentioned above, ISA Certified Arborists must have either three years of work experience or an arboriculture degree along with training across six different areas. Those who receive their certifications have worked hard and spent many hours in the field to become the expert they are today.

Types of Certified Arborists

General arborist certification is great for any individual working at a tree and lawn company. When choosing a company to work with, you want to make sure they have certified arborists on staff to follow industry standards. The ISA also offers additional certifications for certain specialties that can be helpful for services you may need.

General Arborist Certification

The general certification from the ISA requires either three years of work experience or a relevant degree. Individuals must receive training across six different service areas and must pass an examination on many aspects of arboriculture. Once certified, ISA Certified Arborists must follow specific ISA protocols and receive ongoing education to stay up to date on techniques and safety standards.

Tree Worker Specialist Certification

One of the areas of specialization that the ISA offers certifications in is for tree workers and climbers. Proper safety precautions and procedures are essential to avoid accidents and injuries when working in trees. Certified tree workers receive extensive training on working safely in trees and are required to pass a physical safety test using proper guidelines. They are also trained in aerial rescue, first air, and other helpful skills. All certified tree workers are also certified arborists, so these individuals have a wide breadth of knowledge and experience to offer.

Aerial Lift Specialist Certification

Another area of specialization is aerial lift certification, which is used with large tree and branch removal. Individuals certified in aerial lift are trained to ride a lift while operating equipment to trim branches or remove them altogether. The ISA provides safety guidelines and protocols that aerial lifts must maintain to keep themselves and those around them safe during these operations.
